Malaysia Builds Drone Defence Framework

The Defence Ministry has tasked STRIDE, the Science and Technology Research Institute for Defence, to craft a national drone framework. It will align research, regulation and industry to meet modern threats.
STRIDE will partner with the armed forces, universities and private firms to set standards, test platforms and train operators. The plan aims for a 2027 rollout, strengthening security and growing a local drone sector.

For Malaysians, the framework could mean safer skies and new job opportunities. Local tech companies may receive contracts, while citizens benefit from improved surveillance and rapid response to emergencies.
